There are many factors and things you can consider in a company valuation but a multiple of the profit is the most convenient. For an owner-operated business we are going to use Seller Discretionary Earnings but if it is a professionally managed business were going to use EBITDA, or earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization.
