It’s nearing the end of the day and you’re trying to get a huge campaign out the door. There’s a flurry of activity around visual asset creation, content creation, marketing automation, social media, and beyond.
You’re racing to get everything ready. Do you have the most recent copy? Did you remember to make the three edits as suggested by your VP in yesterday’s review meeting? Did you share that finalized version with the rest of your team? Are the most up-to-date assets all stored in one place, easily accessible to your department? Does Sales have what they need to support the campaign?
We’ve all been there. Trying to get more done in less time while pushing to get a campaign launched. There’s a myriad of moving parts and most of them require attention to detail. If any of the aforementioned questions have plagued you during the day (or kept you up at night), Digital Asset Management (DAM) might be your new best friend.
But how do you gauge whether or not it’s time for your organization to use DAM? In today’s continuation of our modern DAM blog series, I’ve pulled out three prominent reasons we’re seeing organizations utilize DAM.
When you don’t know where your digital assets are
Let’s start by running through a list of places where I’ve stored an asset or file recently: my desktop, a shared drive, an email attachment, Google Drive/Box, Office 365, and FTP. And this is just a list of the first things that came to mind as I wrote this blog. Isn’t it time to stop the madness?! Even as I write this, I know there are a few outstanding items I’m hoarding on my desktop that should be added to our own Brandfolder.
Digital assets are valuable, literally. To protect your brand’s IP you should ensure your employees know where and how to store all of their assets – regardless of their perceived importance. DAM solutions, like Brandfolder, provide line of sight into what’s been created and what’s being used. They also help you reduce asset duplication and insure your internal and external users are accessing the most recent and approved versions of files. DAM provides one easily searchable location where anyone can go, assured they’re getting the right asset 100% of the time.
When cloud storage isn’t working
Cloud storage is great. But if there’s anything I’ve come to learn from using it, it’s convenient for storing things but should never be considered a replacement for DAM. When using cloud-based storage solutions (like the Drives and the Dropboxes of the world) it’s easy to forget the processes that help make DAM so worthwhile in the first place. Asset tagging and metadata aren’t required, and although you may remember ‘pitch.pptx’ is the most recent version of your Sales deck, no one else on your team will know how to tell that apart from ‘pitch-recent.pptx’ (the version you modified for a specific prospect).
More than that, DAM gives you additional insight into your assets. You can see who is accessing your files and when they are accessed. You can also implement tags to make files more searchable and discoverable. DAM is about the management of assets, not just a place to store them. When your needs go beyond storage, DAM is for you.
When you want to put your best brand forward, including a rebrand
DAMs provide a convenient and centralized place to store and manage your digital assets. Modern DAMs, like Brandfolder, provide a simple and visually elegant way that enhances this experience. Internal and external users can seamlessly access your assets while giving you peace of mind around proper usage and governance. Whether you’re storing logos, font files, team bios, PDFs, videos, or any other file type, Brandfolder provides a beautiful way to put your best brand forward.
Taking this one step further, many Brandfolder clients have undergone successful redesign projects with the assistance of DAM. OpenTable utilized Brandfolder to confidently keep their new brand work under wraps until it was ready for public consumption. They also used our embedding features to make updating their new logo across every one of their digital properties a breeze. To learn more about their successful rebrand, read the OpenTable case study.
